Types of Facial Fillers

Hyaluronic Acid Fillers

Juvederm®, Belotero®, Restylane®, Voluma™, Bellafil® are all hyaluronic acid products. Hyaluronic acid is a natural component of the skin, so no skin allergy test is needed. These products are typically used to fill the nasolabial folds and labiomandibular folds, as well as other wrinkles on the face. They can also be used to enhance the lips and to fill the crease that sometimes forms under the eye (the tear trough). Since this is a very natural substance, you don’t have to worry about side effects, and the results can last anywhere from 6-8 months.

Calcium Hydroxyapatite Fillers

Radiesse® is a formulation of calcium hydroxyapatite, which is also a common substance in the body that is non-reactive. It is utilized to fill in the nasolabial folds and labiomandibular folds as well as the cheeks. It produces a fuller result than Restylane and may last up to a year.

Poly-L-Lactic Acid Fillers

Sculptra® is Poly-L-lactic acid that works within the deep dermis to replace lost collagen. It can be used in the nasolabial folds as well as other areas on the face, such as hollow cheeks or temporal regions. The average number of injections is three and the results can last up to two years.

Fat Injections

Fat can be harvested from areas such as the love handles or abdomen and processed for injection. Your fat can then be injected into the nasolabial folds and labiomandibular folds, the cheeks, lips, and the hollow tear troughs under the eyes. Remaining fat is then conveniently frozen and stored for subsequent injections that will build nice, natural, long lasting results.

PRP Injections

PRP injections use your own blood for a natural rejuvenation that doesn't require any chemicals, drugs, or surgery. We will extract the platelets from your blood, which contain energy and growth factors to repair damage and stimulate new collagen growth in any part of the body. It works especially well for the skin, and is a quick procedure that takes only around 15 minutes. We recommend three sessions spaced every two weeks for optimal results.

The Vampire Facial

The vampire facial can be combined with other non-invasive facial rejuvenation techniques to enhance your skin tone, reduce the appearance of fine lines, shrink pores and bring a fresh, youthful glow to your facial skin. The vampire facial is effective on certain facial areas where other injectables may not be an appropriate treatment. By using your body’s own naturally-occurring growth factors in PRP and a process called microneedling your skin is stimulated to regenerate.

How Does A Vampire Facial Work?

First, microneedling is done on the target area with the use of an instrument that contains a small group of tiny needles that create minor perforations in the skin, to trigger the skin’s natural healing process. Then, PRP, or platelet rich plasma, which is created from a small amount of your own blood, is administered. The platelets are separated to be concentrated, after which the PRP is applied to your skin to enhance its natural ability to heal, refresh, and regenerate.

Facial Rejuvenation With A Vampire Facial

Since the vampire facial utilizes your body’s own platelets with natural regenerative abilities, there is nothing synthetic being put in your body, and nothing foreign that your body may react to or reject. The growth factors from the platelets enhance your body’s natural ability to heal. This combined with the microneedling elicits the production of collagen and elastin in your skin, leaving your face looking smoother, firmer and more youthful.

Non-Invasive Regenerative Treatment: Vampire Facial

There is minimal downtime associated with the vampire facial, as it is non-invasive. You may experience some redness or swelling that will dissipate within the first few days. During which time your skin will be healing and regenerating, producing new collagen and elastin, and looking healthier and more youthful day by day.

As the tissues regenerate, you’ll notice a more even texture, smaller pores, as well as firmer and more supple skin. The vampire facial requires no incisions, just tiny micro-injuries created by the microneedling procedure, so there is minimal downtime and few side effects. It is a premier option for facial rejuvenation for those who want to avoid invasive surgery or are hesitant about trying other fillers. The vampire facial is highly customizable and can be used with other techniques to restore and rejuvenate skin quality – naturally.

Facial Fillers: What to Expect

Preparing for Treatment

You may be asked to abstain from certain medications and supplements a week prior to your appointment. These can include aspirin, ibuprofen, Omega-3 fatty acids and others.

The Dermal Filler Procedure

Facial fillers such as Restylane, Juvéderm, and Radiesse, allow you to see instant results, and can be achieved the same day of your consultation. A numbing topical cream minimizes pain, so the filler can be injected without causing discomfort. Some fillers contain lidocaine for even more comfort.

Recovery After Dermal Fillers

No downtime is necessary after treatment with facial fillers, but we do recommend that patients refrain from strenuous activity for 48 hours. Occasionally, there may be some minor temporary bruising, which is easily covered with makeup. The results appear smooth and natural. Our clients report that they love seeing their new look in the mirror!1

Facial (dermal) fillers can restore the subcutaneous fat lost due to aging, smoothing lines and folds, and treating a gaunt or hollowed facial appearance.

This treatment can provide significant relief from thin skin that is often the first to show wrinkles and creases on cheeks, chin, and from nose to mouth. Fillers may delay the need for a full facelift. Facial fillers can plump, enhance, soften and minimize the visible effects of aging skin. Treatment with dermal fillers is minimally invasive, requires only a few minutes to perform, and requires little to no recovery time.

It must be understood that fillers are temporary treatments and require re-treatment to maintain the smoother, more youthful look in the years ahead. Depending upon individual requirements and the type of dermal filler used, a single visit can provide results that last from six months up to a few years. For many of our patients, treatment with facial fillers helps them look young and refreshed without the need to have a surgical procedure.
