Mons Pubis Liposuction Questions Answered
WARREN, NEW JERSEY— Although having a substantial mons pubis sounds like a good thing, those who do might disagree.
What is the mons pubis you ask?
Mons pubis is Latin for “pubic mound” and is just that, the mound of adipose tissue above the pubic region. Some people inherit a substantial mons pubis while the size of others’ is the result of weight gain. Concerns range anywhere from hygiene to embarrassment and even frustration, as its size has the potential to block the view of the penis or vagina.
“It can be astonishing how much fat this region can contain,” says Dr. Cuber. “Liposuction offers nice results for patients that have inherited a fatty mons pubis and for those who have acquired it through weight gain and are unable to reduce it with dieting.”
Since it is a sensitive subject, there are probably many people that have questions about mons pubis liposuction but are afraid to ask. Here are some frequently asked questions on the topic and their answers, which should help to satisfy your curiosity:
1.) Will liposuction of the mons pubis decrease my sexual sensation?
The answer is No. Liposuction of the mons pubis will not decrease sexual sensation.
“In fact, many of my patients report increased sexual sensation after reduction of the mons pubis, says Dr. Cuber. “This may be due in part to exposing the clitoris or revealing additional penile length and therefore increasing penetration.”
2.) Will I be bedridden?
No. There is no downtime with mons pubis liposuction. You can return to work the following day and expect bruising and swelling for one to two weeks.
“We advise patients to avoid sexual intercourse for two weeks following surgery while swelling and bruising subside,” says Dr. Cuber.
3.) Can it be combined with other procedures?
4.) Is this procedure only for men?
No. The size of the mons pubis and insecurities associated with its size or condition doesn’t discriminate between sexes. Men and women benefit equally from liposuction of the mons pubis region and experience similar recovery periods.
