Plastic Surgery Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Rhinoplasty Scheduled Next Month, Having Second Thoughts, Normal?
A: Is it normal to have second thoughts prior to Rhinoplasty...
It is perfectly normal to have second thoughts about your surgery. It's a big step to take, but it sounds like you have taken the right precautions. It is important to go to someone who specializes in rhinoplasty and has performed many cases. Your plastic surgeon should be able to refer you to a few past patients on which he has performed rhinoplasty to talk to. If you have any other concerns you should definitely discuss them with your plastic surgeon prior to surgery. Good Luck!

Q: Can You Get One of Your Silicone Implants Bigger Than the Other?
A: Can You Get One of Your Silicone Implants Bigger Than the Other...

This is a fairly common situation as many women have slight or even large asymmetries to their breasts. The easiest thing to do is to place a different size in each breast, and you can certainly do that with silicone as well as saline. Also, if one is lower then you can perform a breast lift on the lower breast and add an implant to that breast, while simply placing an implant in the other breast to match the size. Consult with a board certified plastic surgeon for advice on the best option for you.

Q: Why Wouldn't Lipo Be Done in Combo with Tummy Tuck? 48 Yrs 120 Lb Loss
A: Should Lipo be done when an Abdominoplasty is performed...?

Typically Liposuction on the flanks is done when an abdominoplasty is being performed for better contouring. Most patients require a little contouring to achieve the best results, however if you have had massive weight loss it is probable that primarily the skin needs to be removed. It is not advisable to liposuction the abdomen heavily when doing a tummy tuck because the blood supply could be compromised and the tummy tuck skin may not heal as well. I would contact a board certified plastic surgeon to see what you would be a candidate for.
