What is Eyelid Surgery?
Eyelid surgery, also referred to as an eye lift or blepharoplasty, is a cosmetic surgical procedure which removes excess skin from the upper eyelids and corrects bags or a droopy appearance on the lower eyelids. It may also involve treating delicate eye muscles and removing fatty tissue from these areas.
As you age, the skin around the eye area often starts to droop. This, in turn, causes the muscles beneath the skin to weaken. While complications are extremely rare, they are possible and include bleeding, infection, dry eyes, discoloring of the eyelids, unusual folds in the eyelids, the inability to close your eyes completely, lowering of the lower lash line, and loss of vision.
