Arm Lift, Thigh Lift & Body Lift in New Jersey and Staten Island

NJ Arm Lift | New Jersey Body LiftSince the popularity of gastric bypass surgery has increased dramatically over the last 20 years, we have seen many patients from New Jersey and Staten Island with extra skin on their arms, thighs, and midsection. The extra skin is a result of massive weight loss after a lap band is placed, gastric bypass surgery, or significant dieting. The weight loss after bariatric surgery usually ranges from 40 to 140 pounds.

Some massive weight loss patients are very fortunate after surgery, in that their skin tightens up on its own. Unfortunately, there are many patients with skin that has lost its elasticity and it continues to hang. Having the extra skin is not only a cosmetic problem, but can also be quite uncomfortable because it can rub against other skin or clothing, causing irritation. The following procedures have been performed in our New Jersey and New York offices for many years by our surgeons:

Arm Lift (Brachioplasty)

When liposuction is not enough to improve sagging arms, a surgical procedure is carried out in which an incision is made under the arm to remove excess skin. The result is a tighter, thinner arm.

Sometimes Smartlipo can be performed to tighten a small amount of excess skin. But if the excess skin is significant, incisions can be made in creases under the buttocks or inner thighs to remove extra skin and tighten the whole area.

After bariatric surgery, excess skin can certainly accumulate around the abdomen. An abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck, can make a dramatic improvement. However, the extra skin can sometimes go all the way around to the back, as well. A bodylift utilizes an incision that extends all the way around the abdomen and back, which is hidden below the underwear line. The excess skin is removed, leaving a much smoother abdomen and back.

Each of these surgeries can be performed in our accredited surgery center on an outpatient basis. The recovery lasts about two weeks due to swelling and bruising.

It is important for any armlift, thighlift, or bodylift patient to be realistic. It may not be possible to remove every bit of excess skin, but the result of any of these procedures will be dramatic and well worth the effort.
