The eyes are a focal point of the face, and contribute significantly to your overall appearance. If the skin around your eyes is drooping, it can make you look more tired and older than you feel. An eyelid lift can brighten your eyes and revitalize your entire appearance.

People often refer to an "eye lift" or "eyelid lift," but the truth is that these terms encompass two different procedures. Our upper eyelid surgery in NJ, or upper blepharoplasty, is designed to remove excess skin from the upper eyelid. A lower eyelid lift, or lower blepharoplasty, is designed to remove unsightly bags from under the eyes.
Blepharoplasty of the upper lids is a common procedure that treats the heavy skin on the upper eyelids. An incision is hidden in the natural crease of the upper eyelid, and excess skin is removed. The eyelid is then contoured and the incision closed.
An upper lid blepharoplasty is not painful, and patients usually only incur mild swelling or bruising for around a week. Pain medication will be prescribed to help with any discomfort, but most patients find that recovery is quite easy.
Lower eyelid surgery is a fairly simple procedure that reduces large bags under the eyes. These bags are actually pockets of fat that have fallen forward, causing shadowing and heaviness under the eyes. These pockets can be removed through a small incision placed in the eyelid, and any excess skin can be removed as well.
Recovery after a lower blepharoplasty is usually painless, with some mild swelling. Patients are usually able to return to work within a week.
While each surgery is unique to the patient, most eyelid surgeries are completed in one to two hours.
Scars are normal following a surgical procedure, however, your surgeon will take special care to ensure that any scars will be discreet and hidden from view once healed. In upper eyelid surgery, the incision will be placed carefully in the crease of your eyelid which will naturally camouflage the scar. With lower eyelid surgery, incisions are placed within the lower eyelid, so a scar will not be visible externally.
All surgical procedures come with risks, however, eyelid surgery should not have an impact on your vision. The only way your vision may be temporarily affected is by post-operative swelling which should remedy itself within a few days.

As we age, sagging eyelid skin contributes to a tired, older appearance. In addition, bags under the eyes are associated with exhaustion, stress, and age, so people may think that you are having a hard time at work or at home even if you're perfectly fine.
Benefits of having our NJ blepharoplasty can include:
Our NJ eyelid surgery has a very high satisfaction rate, as it can drastically improve the appearance and doesn't require a very long recovery period. It can also be combined with procedures such as laser resurfacing, a cheek lift, or even a facelift for comprehensive results that can take years off the face.
The ideal candidate for our NJ blepharoplasty is someone who:
Candidates for an upper blepharoplasty are those with significant excess skin on the eyelids that is causing their eyes to look smaller and older. In addition, upper blepharoplasty in Asian patients is a common way to create a double lid and brighten the eye area.
Many people are not entirely sure what kind of procedure would be best to give them the results they want. Do you need a facelift, a brow lift, an eyelid lift, or all three? Would a non-surgical facial treatment such as laser resurfacing be enough? Does a thread lift provide the same kind of results as a full surgical facelift?
Our experienced facial plastic surgeons in New Jersey are able to listen to your concerns, answer your questions, and help come up with a treatment plan to achieve your goals. Some of the facial treatments we offer include:
A facelift addresses the lower face, and is able to reduce the appearance of jowls and create a clean, contoured jawline. A facelift will not address the eyes or brow.
A cheek lift specifically addresses cheeks that have fallen due to age. A cheek lift is a minimally invasive procedure often done at the same time as a facelift or eye lift.
Fat transfer can produce wonderful results in conjunction with an eyelid lift or cheek lift. Fat is harvested from another area of the body and used to fill the hollows beneath the eyes, smoothing the ridge between the orbital bone and the cheek and creating a younger, more refreshed appearance.
Fractional laser skin resurfacing addresses concerns with the skin itself. A facelift or eyelid lift can remove excess skin and tighten existing skin, but these procedures cannot change the texture or appearance of the skin. With the Fraxel laser, we can treat wrinkles, dark spots, irregular skin tone and texture, and acne scars.
A brow lift can restore a friendly, vivacious and youthful aesthetic. It can also uplift your self-confidence, making you feel more energetic and refreshed.
Recovery times following blepharoplasty is minimal, with most patients able to return to work within the week. Recovery may be slightly longer if multiple procedures were performed.
Minor bruising and swelling following surgery is normal, and your eyelids may feel tight at first. Generally, patients do not experience much pain, but there may be some soreness and discomfort. The pain medication prescribed by your doctor should help alleviate these symptoms if they occur; however, many of our patients find they do not even need to take the medication.
Eyelid surgery is performed on an outpatient basis, meaning that you do not need to stay overnight in the hospital. We recommend making arrangements for someone to drive you home after your surgery, and it may be advisable to have someone on hand to help out around the house for the first day or so while you rest your eyes and recover.
If your dark circles are caused by shadows cast by your eye bags or hollowness due to fat loss and drooping cheeks, lower eyelid surgery along with fat transfer can help.
However, dark circles can be caused by a number of different factors, and depending on what is causing them, different treatments may be recommended. In addition to eyelid surgery and fat transfer, treatments for dark circles can include:
